01
Before your highlights
Highlights are for adding some lighter strands to your color, instead of one shade all over like our Full Color service. When you arrive, we check your hair first and talk through the look you want, so we both picture the same color before any work starts. Tell us what is on your hair now and what you have liked before, and we plan from there.

02
How highlights work
Here is how highlights work in general. The stylist picks thin sections of hair and paints lightener or color on them, often wrapping each section in foil while it works. Then the hair is rinsed, often toned to reach the right shade, and styled. Because only some strands are lighter, your color has depth and movement instead of one flat shade. That mix of lighter and darker pieces is the look clients ask for when they book highlights instead of root color or full color.
03
After your highlights
Highlights grow out along with your hair, and the time between visits differs from person to person, depending on the look you chose. Between color visits, our Hair Hydration Treatment is a deep treatment to bring back moisture and softness, and a Blow Dry is there for a day you want your hair done. When you are ready for the next round, you can book it the same way as your first.

Highlights questions
What's the difference between highlights and balayage?
Highlights add dimension by lightening selected strands, and balayage is hand-painted for a soft, natural grow-out. Root color covers regrowth at the roots, and full color goes all over, from root to ends. Highlights and balayage both add lighter pieces, so the look you describe at your visit is where we start.
Why isn't the price of my highlights set before my visit?
We confirm your price after a quick look at your hair's length and density, because highlights depend on how much hair we work with. Longer or thicker hair means more strands to color. Once we have checked your hair and talked through the look you want, we confirm the price with you.
Can I talk through my highlights in Spanish or Portuguese?
Yes. Liliana and her daughter Isabel speak Spanish, English and Portuguese, so you can describe the color you want in whichever language feels easiest for you. Se habla español. Falamos português. Showing us a photo of a look you like also helps.
Can I book highlights online if I'm not sure it's the right service?
Yes. You can book highlights online like any other hair service and choose a time that fits your day. If you can't decide between highlights and balayage, book the one closest to what you want, and we'll talk through the options when you sit down.
